A cable blowing machine, also referred to as a fiber blowing machine, serves a vital role in seamlessly installing fiber optic cables within telecommunication ducts and microducts. This ingenious device employs either compressed air or water as a propelling medium to facilitate the cable's insertion.

Comprising various crucial components, a cable blowing machine ensures a smooth and efficient process:

  1. Fitting Head: The fitting head is pivotal in securely accommodating the duct and delivering the chosen medium (air or water) to the designated space. The cable, passed through the fitting head, undergoes a sealing mechanism that safeguards the machine from any intrusion of the medium.

  2. Belt Feeder: The belt feeder takes charge of gently advancing the cable towards the fitting head, facilitating the entire insertion process.

  3. Foundation Plate or Frame: Acting as a sturdy support, the foundation plate or frame forms the base upon which all subsystems of the cable blowing machine are mounted, ensuring stability during operation.

  4. Cable Guidance System: This system, composed of rolls or bushes, expertly steers the cable towards the fitting head, ensuring precise alignment and proper insertion.

  5. Air/Water Connections: Essential air or water connections efficiently channel the chosen medium to the cable blowing machine, ensuring a secure and uninterrupted flow.

  6. Meter Counter: Displaying the length (and sometimes velocity) of the blown cable, the meter counter offers real-time data for the installation process.

  7. Control Unit: The control unit empowers the operator to finely regulate the cable insertion speed and feeder's propelling force, granting optimal control over the entire process.

Cable blowing machines are categorized based on cable diameter handling and drive system type, which includes track feeder, roller feeder, belt feeder, or blowing heads without feeders. Within the realm of optical fiber cable blowing machines, two primary types are prevalent:

  1. Hydraulically Powered: This variant comprises two integral components - the cable feeding unit and the hydraulic power pack. The cable feeding unit actively advances the cable into the HDPE duct with the assistance of compressed air. The hydraulic power pack, responsible for energizing the cable feeding unit, ensures its efficient operation.

  2. Pneumatically Powered: In this type, compressed air alone propels the cable into the duct, obviating the need for a hydraulic power pack.

The intricate interplay of these components and mechanisms in cable blowing machines highlights their vital role in modern telecommunications infrastructure deployment, enabling the seamless and efficient installation of fiber optic cables.
